Provate a indossare qualcosa di Roberta di Camerino e vedrete quante persone vi guarderanno per strada... E' una cosa normale perchè gli oggetti di Roberta, e ovviamente mi riferisco a quelli vintage, sono unici e inimitabili; un giorno camminavo in città con una sua borsa di velluto rosso ed è stato buffissimo vedere una mia cara amica che nemmeno mi ha salutato perché distratta dal fissare la borsa al mio braccio!
Roberta realizzò la sua prima borsa negli anni '40, mentre era rifugiata con altri ebrei in Svizzera a causa della guerra, perché aveva venduto quella che possedeva per mangiare e non avendo denaro per comprarne un'altra decise di farla da sola; era talmente bella e particolare che venne notata subito da un pellettiere che le propose una collaborazione e da quel giorno l'avventura della di Camerino cominciò. Il successo delle sue borse la portò presto a realizzare abiti che ancora oggi sono considerati oggetti del desiderio e sono talmente belli da sembrare dipinti... Come si fa a descrivere un abito di Roberta? Lo faccio fare a Lei! Questo è ciò che disse al suo fidato stampatore di tessuti, Romeo Toninelli, quando le chiese che idee avesse:
"Allora, sai cosa facciamo? Disegnamo la cintura, ma anche le taschine, i revers. Hai presente quelle bamboline di carta che vendevano i cartolai, da ritagliare? Ritagliavi il vestito e lo appiccicavi alla bambolina. Abiti anche sontuosi, magari pieni di pizzi. Ma era tutto stampato. Applicavi l'immagine e facevi una Regina, o una Sposa. Ecco è la stessa cosa. Oggi la donna è pratica, viaggia, si muove. Ma non posso nemmeno confinarla in un camicione. Ecco, io ho pensato alla maglia illustrata. Mi capisci?"
